Aliens vs. Predator
"Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" is a rare case where the sequel is far superior to the original, but still is hardly a good film. I say this as a fervent fan of both science fiction series that forms the genesis of the AVP franchise and as a person who despised the first AVP entry, "Alien vs. Predator." The first film was simply awful and had very little value in watching the film aside from seeing the big-screen return of the "Predator" creatures. Its plot was laughable and the human characters that populated the film were best served as food dishes to the hordes of aliens. Thankfully, screenwriter Shane Salerno decided to allow these feared xenoforms to the general human populace and provide a concept that the longtime fans of the "Aliens" series has long waited for. If it weren´t for one or two plot missteps and poor human characters, "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" would have been a clear-cut winner.
The film takes place directly after the events of the first film. The corpse of the scarred Predator warrior from the first film is shown on-board the alien ship. A Chest Burster leaves the corpse and it is quickly revealed that the offspring of the Predator host is the first big-screen appearance by the ´Predalien´ (Tom Woodruff, Jr.); an Alien that takes on half of its characteristics from Predator DNA and is able to produce full-strain Alien offspring without the need of a Face Hugger. For those unfamiliar with the Alien universe, an Alien typically requires a spider-like creature to cling to a host victim´s face and this creature places a single alien offspring into the chest of the host. Eventually, the newborn alien will burst through the chest of its host and enter the world to begin its life of carnage and death. The Predalien simply transfers its offspring, which take on none of the Predator characteristics, by mouth-to-mouth transfer.

That “impossible perfect life” is my point. My life will never be “perfect”, so I will NEVER help the poor. (If they are sick or crippled, that is different…but just poor…never).

No you won’t. If you’d care about the poor, you’d help them right now as much as you can, not when you life will be perfect. As human greed goes, there’s no “perfect” life, you always want more. On the other hand, I absolutely agree on your view about pitying the poor. If you going to help them, they just not going to do anything about it. I’ve seen multiple times that helping with money doesn’t really help, it just makes it worse.

You could always pick and choose what charities you donate to. The Red Cross is corrupt as fuck, but there exist lists of charities with information to help you not donate to fucks such as that.As for poor people pulling themselves up…some can, some can’t. I doubt most people honestly think to themselves “Hmm…I could work a little harder or…slack off and live in ABSOLUTE SQUALOR AND DAILY PAIN AND HUNGER”.

Funny story:My sister is in ^Asian Country^ right now teaching english as missions, and when she was getting ready to leave my dad emailed a student he used to have who is now a big head honcho at a huge chemical firm in that country. This guy is a big time in ^Asian Country^, I guess. Anyways, my dad asks if this guy can drive my sister to the nunnery (place where nuns are? I don’t know the word for it). The guy is very excited about hanging with a white girl (she has been getting a lot of comments about her “beautiful white skin” over there, I guess they dig that) and he sends my dad some pics in an email talking about his sweet SUV, how he could show my sister the country in his SUV, how comfortable the SUV is, etc. Remember this guy is in the like top 1000 richest people in the nation. The pics he sent showed this newish Toyota RAV4 looking thing that a college student would own here in America. It was parked in a garage made with mud walls. He was so proud of it, and rightly so, because NOBODY owns cars in ^Asian Country^, but it was so… humble looking from my perspective (middle class white guy) I couldn’t help but laugh.Just goes to show the difference between rich and poor in some countries is a 16,000$ SUV.Side note: he did take my sis for a drive around ^Asian Country^, and for the pervs out there, NO: he did not rape her or try to screw. He is a really nice guy, most of the guys over there are.

I’m in a country next to Brazil right now, and the state owned phone provider get a lot of complaints. I think this is typical for land line phone companies because they often are or have traditionally been state owned monopolies.Regarding the process of privatizing state owned corporations, I would personally prefer if the citizens got shares in the new company instead of selling it all to one party and the state gets the money.A state owned company that gets sold, does not create a free market situation in itself or over night. A free market is not about which companies exist at a given moment, but protection of property rights.Part of that is to make it legal to trade. For instance here, it is illegal to provide internet over TV cable networks! Private cell phone companies can provide 3G internet though. One thing that is hampering the Mercosur countries are the high tariffs, quotas, bureaucracy and other burdens on imports and exports.
