The White House today dashed the hopes of reporters hoping to get a last-minute invitation to the wedding this weekend at President Bush’s ranch in Crawford, Texas.
"I would reduce your level of concern and be assured that there will be absolutely no readout of the wedding, whatsoever," spokesman Gordon Johndroe tells reporters flying with the president to Texas. "This really is a private event for the family. If we can — if the family decides — and I think they may — on Sunday to release a couple of photos of the ceremony, then we will certainly provide those to you. But otherwise, I think the activities of the weekend are going to be a really private celebration for Jenna [Bush] and Henry [Hager]’s family and friends."
USA TODAY’s Maria Puente wrote about the nuptials in this morning’s newspaper.

The town of Crawford is getting ready for the social event of the season. Dozens of reporters, camera crews, and wedding watchers will be there as one of the president’s daughters, Jenna, gets married.
The tiny Texas town made famous by President George W. Bush is getting ready for the glare of the national spotlight.
One doesn’t have to look hard to find mementos and mugs celebrating the marriage of Jenna Bush.
Henry Hager turns 30 Friday, and he’ll turn into Jenna Bush’s husband a day later. Souvenir stores are selling everything with their pictures on them.
None of the town’s 700 people will get to see Jenna and Henry tie the knot. It’s a small private ceremony at the Bush ranch retreat.
“I live on Prairie Chapel Road," says Jerry Mattlage, the Bushes’ next-door neighbor. "And that’s the road President Bush lives on, so when I came into town a while ago, I met like 30 cars.”
Reportedly the wedding at the ‘Western White House’ will feature: Jenna in an Oscar de la Renta gown, two hundred guests, dining, and dancing.
Twenty-two presidential children have married while their fathers were in office — including Austin’s Luci Baines and Lynda Bird Johnson. Fifty-five million watched Luci Baines’ wedding on television.

(35-2) into Tuesday night’s national title game against Stanford (35-3), seeking a record eighth championship with coach Pat Summitt. And, out drops LSU (31-6). LSU has never gotten past the semifinals. The Lady Tigers were tantalizingly close taking a 46-45 lead on two free throws by senior guard Erica White with 7.1 seconds remaining. Then it broke down.
star junior Candance Parker got the rebound pass. LSU coach Van Chancellor wanted the ball stopped — or Parker’s momentum turned. Neither happened.
Parker, maybe the best player in the country, was outplayed by LSU center Sylvia Fowles, who had 24 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. This time it wasn’t enough. Fowles was weeping as she left the court as the finality sunk in.
"I liked they was we rushed the ball. Richard Murphy was very loose and fast. He had a very strong showing, Keiland Williams had some nice carries, but no back can put the ball on he ground. Williams did that, and that’s an issue."
Murphy’s 145 rushing yards came on just 11 carries, which included scoring runs of 4 and 70 yards. He added another 52 receiving yards on a pair of catches, one of which resulted in a 53-yard touchdown. Williams, also playing for the White team, accounted for 36 yards on 5 carries, but had one costly first half fumble. Redshirt freshman Steve Ridley led the Purple team with 42 yards on 8 carries.
LSU quarterbacks Jarrett Lee and Andrew Hatch split time with both teams. Hatch completed 13 of 17 passes for 184 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Lee hit on 7 of 13 passes for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns. Demetrius Byrd led all receivers with 132 yards on 4 catches, which included catches of 57 and 60 yards.
"Both guys could come in and play. I enjoyed the way Hatch managed he game at one point and felt like he was doing really well. I felt like Lee really got it started a little bit differently. Both got it turned around. Hatch got into a series where he got a little bit greedy, and made a couple of bad calls and made a couple of bad throws. I felt like Lee came back and started making plays and got into a groove. I am comfortable with both quarterbacks."
